25. Does Millenials colleagues value these caracteristics as much as you do?
This question investigates participants’ perceptions of the importance attached by Millenials colleagues to a number of professional and personal characteristics. The objective is to assess the degree of alignment between the values of Millenials and those of other generations, in order to better understand the dynamics of intergenerational collaboration and inclusion.
The characteristics considered are:
Loyalty, Hard work, Autonomy, Social impact, Benefits, Collaboration orientation, Innovation, Tradition, Change, Adaptability and flexibility, Inclusion, Environmental impact, Authority, Constructive criticism/feedback, Technology, Work-life balance, Long-term commitment, Constant challenges, Personal relationships.
The analysis shows a picture of shared values and perceived differences between generations regarding Millennials:
Millennials perceive themselves as innovative, inclusive and change and work-life balance oriented.
Gen Z shares this view, showing a good degree of alignment.
Older generations (Gen X and Baby Boomers) recognise some of these characteristics but emphasise a gap on more traditional values such as loyalty, authority and long-term commitment.
These findings can help guide intergenerational management strategies, valuing points of contact and managing differences to improve collaboration and inclusion.
Millennials (self-perception): They see themselves as strongly oriented towards innovation, inclusion, social impact, autonomy, work-life balance and collaboration. They value tradition and authority less, but maintain a medium- to long-term commitment.
Gen Z: Perceives Millennials as similar on innovation, autonomy, change, inclusion and work-life balance, but sees less focus on tradition and authority.
Gen X and Baby Boomers: Perceive Millennials with a lower alignment especially on loyalty, authority and long-term commitment, while recognising them as having a good orientation towards innovation, adaptability and work-life balance. Tradition and authority are values more valued by these generations and less attributed to Millennials.
